How To
Obtain Free Article Content
Obtaining Free Article Content
Some web designers and blog masters try to use content or reports
from free article directories to entice visitors to their blog or
website in order to create revenue. This happens mostly to those who
have recently started working with affiliate links for several
companies but are low on funds. They grab these articles to build
small niche sites and blogs, then seek visitors for their site in
hopes of creating a little money.
This can sometimes seem to be the easiest option for the new people
who are operating on a tight budget, but it is not the way to
effectively create your website content or build a revenue. There
are several reasons why this is detrimental to your site income
building efforts.
The 1st problem is Search Engines
Search engines have change recently. In the good old days you could
use any article, slap on an introduction paragraph and a closing
paragraph and you had unique content. Not any more. The search
engines get smarter as we publishers try to get around them.
Then we tried to use article spinners that would change the
adjectives, adverbs some nouns and pronouns in order to make unique
content. The problem with those softwares were they made the article
unreadable! No duplicate content because no one would ever write
that way!
Search engines give no glory to duplicate content. In fact if your
site is all duplicate (other peoples) content, the search engines
will blacklist your site never showing it in the results pages.
Decent rankings in the search engines are absolutely necessary to
get free visitors to your website or blog so they will be able to
click your affiliate links, adsense ads or pay per lead
advertisements. You can't make money without traffic. Pursuing the
search engines good graces of your site, in order to eventually be
ranking high enough in result pages to get free customers, should be
your highest priority.
Writing articles that are unique and interesting will get you kudos'
from the SE's. They reward good content. They want to give the user
a good experience while using their service. The better your
content, the more often they will show your site in the results. New
content ranks well also. If you have out of date articles on your
site, the SE's will know it's old and not reward you either.
The 2nd problem is getting visitors clicking on something
Well written articles show the reader that you are an expert in your
field. If they have seen the same article somewhere else, you have
just lost their trust in you. People want to learn from others they
feel are knowledgeable in the subject.
If you are using poorly written articles from the freebie directory,
they will not be in "your language". Meaning that if you have
written a few of your own articles on the site and have some others
by someone else, the articles will not "sound" like you wrote them.
If your articles were written by others, you can be exposed as a
publisher who doesn't really know the subject they are talking
about. Therefore they will not trust your product endorsements. This
will greatly reduce the quantity of site visitors that would be
willing and eager to click through on you ads.
The 3rd problem is the Author's Bylines
Articles that are written by others and placed in the directories
are free to use on your site as long as you leave the author's
resource box or bylines intact. Great for the writer when you put
his link on your site, not so good for you when the visitor you
worked so hard to get simply clicks of your site with the author's
link.
Yes, you must leave the byline in, it is against copyright laws to
"use" someone else's content without giving them the credit. They
can copy and paste the article into the search box of Google and it
will come up if it's on your site. Busted.
Considering all these problems, it just isn't worth using the free
article directories for all of your content. Can you use a few pre
written articles on your site? Yes, if the area of their expertise
is something beyond yours (and your readers will know it), by all
means use an experts article in addition to yours for a more
enhanced experience for your regular readers.
Sometimes I will use an experts article written about a technical
issue to compliment my recommendation in one of my blogs.
Article directories are a good place for ideas about something to
write about, just be sure not to plagiarize it. It is and will
always be better to create your own content. If you need content in
an area your not familiar with and cannot afford to have articles
written for you, it's time to do your own research. Read some
magazines on the subject, check out any special reports, look
through college essays online. Read any white papers you can find in
the Magazine's business section. Harder but worth the effort.
